Heston Rovers are delighted that after months of hard work, to announce the completion of the improvement works at the 3G Facility at St Josephs College.
The initial groundworks package was completed in July by David Hardie Engineering Ltd which comprised of excavation of existing banking area and form retaining structure , and create a tarmacadam hardstanding to allow small sided goals to be located out with the playing surface and run off area. An additional concrete base was installed in preparation for the installation of a 50 seater stand and 2 sets of dugouts. This was quite a difficult project in relation to the restricted access to the site and thanks to all those involved from David Hardie Engineering for their expertise in carrying out this work.
The erection on site of the 50 Seater Spectator Stand and installation of 2 new dugouts were completed during the October Holidays by Elite Stands Ltd.
These will be be a valuable addition to the club by providing a dry area to allow players to shelter during adverse weather over the winter months at training and also providing cover for spectators whilst attending the many matches that will be held at the venue over the years ahead.
An additional advantage for the school is that the stand will also be able to be used as an "outdoor classroom" for the PE Department.
Hopefully this underlines the clubs commitment to improve facilities for all of our members and the wider community.
The project was jointly funded by Heston Rovers & Dumfries & Galloway Council
