It was an early start for the 14s this morning when we hosted local rivals Threave Rovers Youth Development Girls

The early exchanges went the way of the visitors and they deservedly took the lead when the striker took an early shot in the box and although Maddie made a good initial save, the ball hit off the post and spun into the back of the net.

Eventually we managed to play ourselves into the game and 10mins before halftime we got an equaliser, when Lucy broke from midfield and played a superb through ball to April, who finished by the goalkeeper

Half time- 1-1

The second half didn’t have many clear cut chances except when half way through the half the Threave defender was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box, so a penalty was awarded. Although well struck, the goalkeeper pulled off a good save to deny us the lead.

Both sides then created a few half chances but none were taken and the contest ended a draw

Player of the match- Gracie ⭐️ aka “The Warrior”?
Not as much football played today as we as coaches would have liked but we could not fault any of the girls desire to win the ball. This was no more evident by Gracie’s performance. She battled and scrapped for everything.Sometimes coming up against 3 opponents at one time, but still more often than not came away with the ball. Brilliant effort Gracie ?

Next week we are on the road again when we travel to play Kilburnie Ladeside Girls
