Today our U8’s and U10’s hosted Threave Rovers Youth Development Girls at St Joes which turned out to be a great advert for girls grassroots football.
All the girls played 3 x 20 minute games, where they worked extremely hard as individuals and for each other in every game, with some excellent football and goals on display for the big crowd that was there to cheer them on.
There was a 4 year age gap between some of the players there today, but you wouldn’t have thought that watching them play.
More important than anything, all the girls were having fun, smiling and really enjoying themselves which is exactly what we want for them.
We had 2 players of the day -
Evie D - a fabulous little footballer with never ending energy and work rate, who has great technical ability and a good footballing brain for her young age.
Georgie K - another one of our younger players who just never gives up, her bravery today got her this award, she was up against some older and bigger girls, but never shied away from the physical battle and was a real menace for the Threave girls.
Thank you as always to our friends at Threave for travelling through today, the coaches are excellent and have the same ethos as Heston coaches, in that we want the girls to have fun and develop at the same time. Their players play the game in the right spirit and are a credit to their club, coaches and parents.
