Alan Watson tenders resignation at recent AGM

Heston Rovers Chairman Alan Watson has stepped down from his role at the Clubs recent Annual General Meeting to end a 20 year association with the club.

A quite remarkable achievement in current football where loyalty isn't a word used regularly.

Like most of us at the club , Alan initially joined as a parent , before becoming a coach for his son Liam's team, shortly after his daughter Katie joined the club and to make it a family affair it wasn't long before Alan's wife Moira also became involved, helping out at many of the club events.
It wasn't long before Alan joined the committee and held various roles before becoming Chairman in 2013 holding the post for the last 11 years.

Alan added
"I have helped out at Heston Rovers as parent, coach, committee member and for the last 11 years as Chairman and for most of the time loved it. I am proud to have been associated with the Heston Family for so long and made many Lifelong friends here .
In particular I want to mention the Tommy ,Derek and -Margaret Rose for all their help and wish them and Heston Rovers F C all the best -for the future"

Current Committee Member Derek Douglas has stepped into the role of Chairman and will be assisted by Terry Butcher.

Derek added "On behalf of everyone at the club I would like to thank Alan for the dedication to the club over the last 2 decades and especially as Chairman for the past 11 years and i am sure he will enjoy his "retirement" and get to spend more time with his family, or should i say his other family.

"I know Alan wont mind me sharing one of his most memorable moment at the club when in 2008 he was presented with the "Coaches Over 40"Player of the year by both QoS Legend Jim Thomson and Ex Scotland Manager, the late great Craig Brown."
