Luke Hammond hauled the home side back into the tie single handedly Firstly he was allowed the freedom of Firstly he was allowed the freedom of New King Edward Park as he jinked past 5 Heston players before cooly slotting beyond Kirkaldie into the bottom left hand corner of the net.
Within 60 seconds the sides were level as quick thinking by Hammond, saw Kirkaldie off his line before firing in a =n effort from 40 yards and although Kirkaldie managed to get a touh he was unable to prevent the ball dropping over the line.
Half Time 2-2
Heston regained the lead within 38 seconds of the restart as tenacity by Jardine in the Mids box saw his initial effort blocked but the striker followed up with a low shot into the bottom right hand corner to regain the lead.
McKie was through one on one with Murray in the mids goal with the keeper saving with his legs in what proved to be a turning point in the game.
Ex QoS & Gretna Striker levelled things up again in the 66th minute after he was allowed space 25 yards out before curling a fine effort into the top right hand corner of the net.
With Rovers struggling to retain possession it was no surprise when Kyran Jackson slid the ball home from inside the 6 yard box from a cut back on the right after Heston failed to deal with a long clearance in 74 minutes to put the home side ahead for the 1st time in the match.
Hughes & Brown were introduced at the expense of Smith and Tweedie to try and freshen things up although Heston really failed to create any cear cut chances in the remainder of the match, with the home side more likely to extend their lead as the missed 3 good chances inside the last 10 minutes.
So for the 1st time in a few seasons Heston wont compete in a Cree Lodge Final having been in 4 of the last 5 finals after failing to progress.
Interesting Stat that of the 5 defeats this season by South sides so far have all been by a single goal which the management will be hoping turns round sooner rather than later.
