Unlucky Colts miss out on top 6 in Play Off
Full time from David Keswick Centre
Greystone Rovers U16s 2-0 Heston Colts U16s
With the league splitting after the first round of games.A play off was needed to separate the teams as both had finished on the same totals.
Squad Fraser ,Sam I,Rory,Ben T,Scott,Finlay,Sam J,Josh,Issac S,Ben W,James L,James H,Issac H and Kyle.
Greystone started quickly and soon had the Colts on the back foot as they moved the ball quickly and created a chance in the first minute that just went narrowly past the post.
They took the lead in their next attack as their forward reacted first to the bouncing ball in the box.
The Colts seemed a little overwhelmed by the occasion and were lucky not to go further behind as the striker let fly from the edge of the box.The ball struck the underside of the bar but the referee waved play on much to the disappointment of the Greystone players (it looked into me)
This was the spur the Colts needed as they started to get themselves into the game and were unlucky not to draw level as the ball was played across goal and was just missed by the advancing forward.
The Colts were on the front foot and created a couple of early chances but just couldn't get that little bit of luck in front of goal.
Greystone moved further in front as as they scored from a corner.
With 20 minutes to go the coaches went for it by playing 3 at the back and putting on an extra forward.
The Colts were awarded a free kick just outside of the box.The left back struck a great free kick that hit the bar and went over.
As the game moved into injury time the Colts again struck the bar as their winger was unlucky with his chip finish.
Congratulations to Greystone players and coaches on gaining a top six finish and best of luck for the rest of the season.
To the Colts well done on giving yourselves the chance of a top six finish. At no point in this game today did you let your heads or yourselves down and competed for the full 80 minutes.
We still have lots to play for this season and we will move onto next week's game with the same application and determination you have shown so far.
Well done boys.
